GCAO: Attempt to darken culture of tolerance exposed

Posted by Ethio Tribune on September 20, 2013

GCAO: Attempt to darken culture of tolerance exposedThe attempt of some opposition political parties and religious extremists to darken the culture of tolerance and respect among the public in the country is getting exposed, the Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) said.

Office State Minister Shimelis Kemal said that the public have become aware that the parties and extremists are attempting to destruct the age old culture of tolerance and respect.

Shimelis said the parties and the extremists are engaged in the efforts to cancel the anti-terrorism law, which respects the human and democratic rights of citizens and designed taking into consideration the experiences of other countries and international laws.

Shimelis said they are engaged in an attempt to cooperate with destructive forces to obstruct construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

The State Minister also said that such forces, which are exerting efforts to seize power through undemocratic manner, are hesitating to believe that terrorism is a  threat for the country.

He said effort of the destructive forces to ruin the constitutional order and destabilize peace and stability is foiled by active participation of the public.
