2014 World Cup Qualifier: Ethiopia defeats CAR 2-0 to go on top of Group A

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Ethiopian national soccer team, aka the Walias, defeated Central Africa Republic (CAR) 2-0 here today to go on top of Group A for the 2014 World Cup qualifier match.

Saladin Said, who currently plays as a forward for Wadi Degla FC in the Egyptian Premier League, scored both goals (37 & 86). It was Saladin, who also scored Ethiopia’s goal against South Africa last week.

The Walias dominated the match and deserved to win as they created several goal scoring opportunities.

Seyoum Tesfaye, Addis Hintsa and Asrat Megersa were replaced by Shimelis Bekele, Mesoud Mohammed and Berhanu Bogale respectively in the second half.

The Walias and CAR now share top spot in the group with 3 points (+1 goal) each after 2 matches.
